1966 Mustang GT “K” 289 Hi-Po- 271HP Convertible This is the rarest of the rare Mustangs built. It has been restored and the paint was stripped to bear metal to include the engine bay and you can see the original paint markings on radiator support as it came down the assemble line. This Mustang has had a very beautiful restoration that has been driven; the vintage burgundy paint is just slick and straight. All body lines are better than factory and are of show quality. Body: I have some pictures of the restoration showing the paint markings on radiator support, New Ford fenders and hood were installed along with a new taillight panel and it was NOS Ford part also. It has had some floor pan repair and was done nicely. Torque box’s inner frame rails and outer frame rails looked to be original along with the correct stamping date. The doors show no repair and are of show quality, they fit better than factory and new weather stripping were installed, even the door latches and striker plates were replated or new ones were installed. The bumpers, bumper guards, backup lights, park lights, outside door handles, GT emblems and Mustang letters, GT stripes, grill moldings, hood molding, hood letters, remote outside mirror and right hand matching non remote mirror, Luggage rack, antenna, new chrome convertible top moldings, door edge guards, Taillight doors, GT gas cap, this is just some of the new parts installed doing the restoration. Interior: The Deluxe interior is just beautiful, the interior code is 76B which is convertible with deluxe interior and the trim code is 66 which is Black deluxe. The interior was completely restored to include new seat covers, carpet, deluxe door panels, new pony door handles, window handles, and rear quarter handles, interior quarter trim, well liner, convertible top, dash pad, convertible chrome header bar, sun visors brackets, sun visors, rear view mirror and bracket, convertible top weather stripping, windshield, instrument cluster, glove box liner, wood grain steering wheel. Scuff plates, kick panels. He radio is the factory AM 8 track with factory door speakers. The console was restored also. Suspension: The GT suspension is there to include the correct steering box, sway bar, disc-brakes, GT exhaust and since it is the K code it has the 9” rear end. The shocks are detailed and the front suspension has the original style tie rods and center linkage. The lower and upper control arms are detail correctly. The disc-brakes have been restored by stainless steel brakes corp. The wheels are the reproduction style steel wheels with dual red line tires. Engine: The engine is the 289 Hi-Po with 271hp. I have taken pictures of the vin: number stamped on the block, I can see the 6F08K3138 so I believe it is the correct block, The date code on block is 6C25 casting number is C5AE6015E, head date codes are left 6B25 and right is 6B28 which makes them built on Feb 25th and 28th. . It has the correct K code Carburetor, fan blade, exhaust manifolds, H pipe, dual point distributor, correct Hi-Po plug wires, radiator and heater hoses, Alternator pulley, air cleaner, valve covers and oil cap. This is a very beautiful restoration and it drives out perfect, it is one of the rarest Mustangs out there and the DSO is 91 which is export special order.
