Vehicle Description:

1957 Thunderbird 312, 3 Speed Manual

This is a 1957 thunderbird with the factory D code engine 312 4 barrel. It was built in Oct 12 1956 and was used for Ford executive or used for Ford ads. I do have the factory invoice with the build date and option list.

The engine has been rebuilt and runs great, the points and condenser was replaced with the Pertronix ignitor so now you have the best of both worlds, the original distributor but the electronic breakerless ignition system that is trouble free. The charging system has been change over to a one wire alternator for trouble free driving. The under hood wiring was completely replaced with new original type reproduction harness. This car can be driven any were and it drives great!

The body is solid and all of the body supports are original and there is no rust and there has been no rust repair done on this car. This Thunderbird has been owned locally for the last 20 years by Thunderbird Club Members, they have taken very good care of it. The bumpers were replated and the interior was restored, I installed new carpet, seat cover, door panels, arm rests, drop down curtain behind seat, new door panel Aluminum trim, scuff plates, new door handles and window handles, new kick panels, new sunvisors, new quarter trim covers, new garish rail covers, new vinyl floor covers, new weather stripping on doors, windshield post, and convertible top and hardtop.

The exterior Thunderbird emblems on hood and trunk are new along with new outside door handles, mirrors, Radio Antenna, Hood scoop grill, Grill name plate, left & right fender “hashmarks” Ornaments and thunderbird scripts. The dash gages all work including the Tach and clock. The dash cover is like new, An AM/FM cassette radio was installed; all of the dash panels look like new and the steering column chrome was replated, It has both tops, both are white, the hardtop was repainted when we done the restoration and the convertible soft top was replaced at that time to include repainting the top frame and installing new weather stripping.

The engine was rebuilt, new radiator hoses and correct hose clamps were installed along with new spark plugs and correct plug wires and wire holders, the engine compartment was repainted and the engine was detailed, along with the radiator and fan shroud, heater housing, It has a new sealed Maintenance free battery “Power Punch” that I just installed. The clutch disc and pressure plate were replaced when we done the restoration and everything works great.

The paint is show quality, I have pictures of the restoration when the body was in bear metal and though out the body and paint work, It is the best body that I have restored in many many years, there was no rust or body damage Zero rust repair!! All body mounts are original and No rust in any body supports. We took it down to bear metal and repainted it to show quality in 2005. New BFGoodrich wide white radial tires and Reproduction Kelsey-Hayes wire wheels and center caps ($2550.00). The restoration was completed of May 2005 and was shown on May the 19th and won first place. It won Best of show at the Mustang show in Dillon SC and has won very time it was shown.

This Thunderbird is very straight has beautiful lines, I restored this Thunderbird in 2005 and have maintained it for the last 3 years.
